What is Form 7217?

The Form 7217 is a new informational tax form that has to be filed this year in connection with the eFund merger. This applies only to investors who held eFund shares prior to the merger and received a Schedule K-1.

In connection with the 2025 eFund merger, Form 7217 is filed by partners receiving property distributions to report the basis of those assets.

Do I need to file Form 7217?

If you held eFund shares prior to the merger and received a Schedule K-1, the following information may apply to your tax filing.

If your K-1 has an amount reported in Box 19, Code C, you will likely need to include IRS Form 7217 as part of your Federal tax filing. This form can be found on the IRS website here.
