We're excited to share that in July 2025, Vanta successfully closed its $150M Series D funding round, a late-stage venture capital investment round, at a $4.15B valuation. The round was led by Wellington Management with participation from existing investors including Sequoia, J.P. Morgan, Craft Ventures, Y Combinator, and CrowdStrike Ventures, bringing Vanta's total funding to over $500M.

Delivering impressive growth

This Series D represents a significant milestone, with the $4.15B valuation marking a meaningful step up from the $2.45B Series C, a mid to late stage financing round, that Sequoia led last year and the $1.6B valuation at which the Innovation Fund initially invested. The premium valuation reflects both the company's continued exceptional execution and the market's recognition of Vanta's leadership position in the rapidly expanding trust management category.

Continued execution on the vision

Since our initial investment, Vanta has consistently shown their ability to deliver on the ambitious vision of transforming how businesses earn and prove trust. What began as a point-in-time SOC 2 compliance solution for startups has evolved into a comprehensive AI-powered trust management platform serving enterprises of all sizes.

As part of the announcement of the recent round, Vanta shared some impressive numbers that speak to how impressive the growth has been:

  • 12,000+ customers now rely on Vanta, including marquee names like Snowflake, Ramp, GitHub, Duolingo, and Fundrise
  • 200M+ assets continuously monitored across laptops, servers, and infrastructure
  • 33,000 vendors managed to reduce third-party risk exposure
  • 10M Trust Center views demonstrating real-time transparency with customers and partners

From compliance to continuous trust

Vanta's evolution from point-in-time compliance to continuous trust represents a fundamental shift in how organizations approach security and risk management. Rather than relying on periodic audits that provide outdated snapshots, Vanta enables real-time verification and monitoring that gives both companies and their customers confidence in security posture every day.

This continuous approach addresses a critical pain point in B2B relationships: the growing expectation from customers, partners, and regulators for ongoing proof of security controls rather than static certificates that may be months out of date.

AI-powered efficiency gains

The company's integration of AI capabilities has created meaningful efficiency gains for security and compliance teams. Vanta AI can now automatically draft more than 80% of security questionnaire responses, with AI-generated answers accepted 95% of the time. This dramatically reduces the security review timeline—one of the most persistent friction points in B2B sales cycles—without compromising accuracy.

Beyond questionnaire automation, Vanta's AI Agent serves as a "friendly robot GRC (governance, risk and compliance) engineer" that helps with policy updates, evidence verification, and workflow automation, with some customers reporting time savings of up to 12 hours per week.

Still early days for AI in GRC

While these AI capabilities already deliver substantial value, we believe we're still in the early innings of applying AI to address the pain points faced by security and compliance professionals. The manual, repetitive nature of much GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) work makes it an ideal candidate for AI-powered automation and intelligence.

The new funding will help Vanta accelerate their AI product roadmap and continue raising the bar for what customers can expect from trust management platforms. As Christina Cacioppo, Vanta's CEO, noted in the announcement: "We're just now starting to see the impact that AI will have on how organizations build, prove, and manage trust."

Looking ahead

With this new funding, Vanta is well-positioned to accelerate product development, expand into adjacent markets like third-party risk and government compliance, and continue building the infrastructure that enables trust to scale with technology.

The Wellington-led round validates both the market opportunity and Vanta's execution against it. As Matt Witheiler, Head of Late-Stage Growth at Wellington Management, commented: "Vanta's AI-driven platform is moving beyond the standard for security and compliance—with real-time, continuous verification that's essential for every industry in today's business environment."

We are proud to be investors in Vanta and are now that much more excited about Vanta's trajectory and the team's ability to continue delivering on their mission of helping businesses earn and prove trust in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
