What is assets under management (AUM)?
- Definition
- Assets under management (AUM) is the total current market value of investments that a fund manager or investment platform oversees on behalf of its investors at a given point in time.
AUM is one of the most widely referenced metrics for evaluating investment managers and platforms, providing an indicator of scale and track record. AUM should also not be confused with total capital deployed over a fund's history, as assets may have been sold, refinanced, or returned to investors over time.
